This guide lists all 18 larval tear locations and tips to obtain them. The larval tear is an item that you can give to Rennala to respec your character stats, after defeating her in Raya Lucaria Academy.
We will provide you with a short description, a relevant screenshot and a link to a map location to make your trip as smooth as possible.
LARVAL TEAR LORE DESCRIPTION:
Core of a creature of mimicry known as a silver tear. As much as a substance as it is a living organism.
Material required by the amber egg cradled by Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, to birth people anew.
Being born anew allows the reallocation of attributes boosted by leveling up.
Larval tear locations: 6 drop from disguised ambushers
There are 6 larval tears that drop from mobs that watched too many ninja movies when they were young. They are roaming around disguised as someone else and after you kill them they will reveal their true form.
After you see through their trickery and defeat them in their true form can you claim your prize so be ready for a fight tarnished.
1. Lesser Rune Bear
Where: Map Location
This beast will take the form of a simple wandering noble zombie. Find him east of Agheel Lake South site of grace and kill him.
2. Troll
Where: Map Location
Disguised as a Wandering noble zombie in Caelid. He is squating by the stone coffins on the cliff south of the Caelid Highway South site of grace.
3. Grafted Scion
Where: Map Location
Disguised as a Giant Crayfish this one is patrolling around, while 3 of his “brothers” are sleeping. Reach him by riding northwest from Boilprawn Shack site of grace.
4. Lion Guardian
Where: Map Location
Disguised as an wandering noble zombie in Altus Plateau, found cowering in a corner in the unnamed ruins on the clifftops, most easily reached by going north from the Ramparthside Path site of grace.
5. Wormface
Where: Map Location
Disguised as a flaming putrid zombie, east of the Road of Inquiry site of grace. The enemy is by the first fire in the ruined camp.
6. Lesser Rune Bear
Where: Map Location
Another Bear taking the form of a wandering noble zombie. Find him east of Inner Consecrated Snowfield site of grace.
Larval tear locations: 4 drop from silver spheres
There are 4 larval tears that drop when you kill the Silver Spheres or as I like to call them rolly pollies of death. We will also include 2 larval tears that drop from a mimic tear boss, because mimic tears are silver and silver spheres are silver, so this makes some logical sense to me (don’t ask me why).
7. First Silver Sphere
Where: Map Location
Found at the middle of the church with 2 nox priestesses around it in Night’s Sacred Ground. Reached by jumping the rooftops from Siofra River Bank site of grace.
8. Second Silver Sphere
Where: Map Location
Found on the bridge in Nokstella, Eternal City. Reached by climbing the stairs up from Nokstella Eternal City site of grace.
9. Third Silver Sphere
Where: Map Location
Dropped by a Silver Sphere after the bridge and up the stairs, in the temple right after reaching the top, in Nokstella, Eternal City. Silver Sphere is hanging on the ceiling.
Make sure you kill it after it drops to the ground otherwise you won’t be able to collect the tear. Reached by climbing the stairs up from Nokstella Eternal City site of grace.
10. Fourth Silver Sphere
Where: Map Location
Dropped by a Silver Sphere hanging on the ceiling in the northeast temple, after the bridge in Nokstella, Eternal City. Silver Sphere is hanging on the ceiling.
Make sure you kill it after it drops to the ground otherwise you won’t be able to collect the tear. Reached by climbing the stairs up from Nokstella Eternal City site of grace.
11 & 12. Mimic Tear larval tear locations
Where: Map Location
After defeating the boss he will drop two Larval Tears.
Closest site of grace before it is defeated is Nokron, Eternal City.
Other larval tear locations: graveyards, merchants, and corpses
You don’t have to worry about fighting anyone to get your drops. These last 6 Larval Tears are found on corpses and in graveyards.
13. Albinauric Graveyard
Where: Map Location
Found in the graveyard at the Village of the Albinaurics. Best reached by riding Torrent from Scenic Isle assuming you don’t already have a Village of the Albinaurics site of grace.
If you do that one is the closest.
14. Caria Manor Graveyard
Where: Map Location
Found in the graveyard east of Caria Manor. The item is found by touching a ghost sitting on a chair.
You have to pick up the Resurrection Painting first before you can see the ghost, found in the shack here (Map Location). The ghost disappears as soon as you touch it and drops the Tear and a Juvenile Scholar Set.
Closest site of grace is Behind Caria Manor.
15. Pidia the Merchant
Where: Map Location
Pidia, Carian Servant can be found by going west from Ranni Rise site of grace and dropping down the cliffs on to some battlements. He sells the Tear for 3000 runes.
16. Siofra River Merchant
Where: Map Location
Another Tear is sold by a Nomadic Merchant in Siofra River for the same price. He plays his loot in a hidden area that is only accessible by climbing up and around the nearby wooden scaffolding. Closest site of Grace is Worshipers Woods.
17. Corpse
Where: Map Location
Found on a corpse inside the Temple southeast of the Nokron, Eternal City site of grace.
18. Corpse
Where: Map Location
Second corpse is not far from the first. You can find it in the middle of a gazebo, south east of Nokron, Eternal City site of grace.
